KRAMA
The krama, Cambodia's traditional and multi-use woven textile, was added to UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in December 2024.
This prestigious recognition represents a vital step in safeguarding, celebrating, and sharing Cambodia's rich cultural heritage with the global community.
And we are so excited to join this momentum with our diverse collection of drama pieces!
The krama is a versatile fabric deeply woven into the daily lives of Cambodians. It serves as a baby wrap, a headscarf shielding workers from the sun, a towel after a swim, or a cloth for cooking and carrying food. It can be worn as a scarf, belt, or a bandana. Cambodian women have been central to preserving this tradition, passing down their weaving knowledge, including classic patterns and the use of wooden handlooms, from mother to daughter through generations. And since, the krama have become a symbol synonymous with the identity of the Cambodian people.
